Meetings set for transmission line discussion

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – People will have their chance to weigh in on plans to build a huge transmission line from New Mexico to southern Arizona.

Developers say the Southline Transmission Project would improve the electrical grid and help distribute power from solar and wind.

BLM released a draft report about possible environmental effects of the project. The line would cross public and private property.

The comment period ends in July and several public meetings are scheduled. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
