Hundreds of kids show up for bike rodeo

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Nearly 200 kids picked up free bicycle helmets during a community bike rodeo in Santa Fe on Saturday.

Santa Fe police officers checked riders’ bikes to make sure everything was safe. They also taught the kids how to use proper hand signals while riding and obey traffic laws.

Police launched the department’s new child identification system called EZ Child ID which records the child’s fingerprints, weight and height, and includes a picture and video of the child. All that information is then put on a disc and given to guardians.
