Firefighters investigate LANL fires

LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (KRQE) – Still no word this morning on what caused three small fires at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The fires were in an area that is used for testing up to 2,000 pounds of high explosives.

Fire officials say the blaze was put out within an hour.

Luckily the area was contained to a fenced in remote location.

One of the main concerns about fires at Los Alamos is the radioactive material stored in drums on above ground on site. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
