Our first system is moving through the state today and that cranked up the winds on Saturday. This system didn’t have much moisture to work with, but Sunday’s storm system is going to pack more of a punch. While the winds will remain strong, we will have the chance for snow in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and valley t-storms. Winter Storm Watches and Advisories are posted for the northern Mountains and the San Juans of southern Colorado from Sunday into Monday morning.
A cold front will keep the winds strong in eastern New Mexico Sunday night into Monday. So we will likely have strong canyon winds in the metro early Monday morning. Temps will be 10 to even 40 degrees cooler on Monday in parts of the state. So keep the jacket handy!
