GRANT COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Crews are mopping up a wildfire in Grant County that started Wednesday.
It’s burned about 50 acres near Tyrone.
NM Forestry says crews were able to stop the forward spread of the fire, preventing it from cresting a ridge and threatening homes.
The fire did burn two outbuildings when it first started, but it is now 60 percent contained.
Investigators say the fire started as a trash burn on private property, which spread to nearby vegetation.
