ARTESIA, N.M. (KRQE) – A wreck on U.S. Highway 285 and Fairgrounds Road sent two people to the hospital Thursday.

Eddy County Sheriff’s Office said that emergency officials responded to the incident at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday when the driver of a Ford Taurus disregarded a stop sign and was struck by a Dodge Neon.

The driver of the Taurus suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a hospital. Deputies said the driver of the neon sustained non life-threatening injuries and was transported to Artesia General Hospital.

Eddy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the collision.
