ABQ volleyball coach admits to sex with teen

LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque volleyball coach has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a teenage girl.

Ryan Kapuscinski, 21, was taken into custody by Los Lunas police after a 15-year-old Los Lunas girl posted in an online chat room about having sex with him.

After being interviewed by investigators, Kapuscinski admitted to having sex with the girl and knowing her age.

Kapuscinski was a coach for a New Mexico Juniors Volleyball Club in Albuquerque, coaching girls 13 to 18 years old.

The New Mexico Juniors Volleyball Club released a statement Saturday indicating Kapuscinski has been terminated.

Club officials said, the teen involved was not a member of the club and that she did not meet Kapuscinski at the club or any event related to the club.

Official also stated that prior to hiring Kapuscinski, an extensive background check was completed and he did not have a record at the time.

The volleyball club also said that there have never been any reports of inappropriate conduct between the Kapuscinski and any club member.

He’s now charged with child rape.
