New transit center opens in ABQ

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The new Montano transit center officially opened Monday, a project that was three years in the making.

It’s located on Montano between 2nd and Edith and will serve ABQ Ride and Railrunner passengers.

City leaders believe the center will help open the ever growing the North Valley to more economic development.

“It’s a good day, it’s a project that was funded primarily by the federal transit administration but also our friends in the state legislature and the city council and the city’s budget process, so its a good team effort to do good things for transportation in our city,” Mayor Berry said.

The center will be the first stop the Railrunner makes as it leaves downtown.

The new center has 290 parking spaces, bike racks and even free wifi. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
