MORIARTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico school district is taking on the state after filing a lawsuit.
The Moriarty-Edgewood school district posted this notice on their website saying it had filed a suit against the New Mexico Public Education Department and Secretary Hanna Skandera.
The suit, which was filed last month, is seeking the reversal of Skandara’s dismissal of the district’s school closure and consolidation plan.
In December, the Moriarty-Edgewood school board voted to close two schools because the district has lost a lot of students.
Skandera denied the request saying the district didn’t prove it did enough to balance its budget.
The district says otherwise.
