NM airman helps rescue sick girl

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A New Mexico airman’s in the middle of a rescue in the Pacific Friday night.

Tech Sergeant Sean Woodard, whose parents live in Los Lunas, is part of a California Air Guard crew trying to save a 1-year-old girl who’s severely ill with salmonella on a sailboat 900 miles off Mexico’s coast. Four paramedics parachuted into the water from a c-130 earlier Friday, swam to the boat and have stabilized the child.

Sergeant Woodard is a flight engineer on a helicopter now on the way to pick her up and transfer her to a navy frigate where she can get more medical care.
