Deputy at fault for hitting pedestrian

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – State police say a Dona Ana County Sheriff’s deputy is at fault for a deadly pedestrian accident earlier this week.

The Las Cruces Sun-News cites investigators who say Deputy Eden Terrazas was heading to a call in mesquite when she lost control and skidded across the highway Tuesday night.

Nativadad Nunez, 44, was struck while walking on the shoulder.

The sheriff’s department says Terrazas has been placed on leave during the investigation.

No word yet on whether she’ll face charges.
