Vigil held in rememberance of James Boyd

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – More than 100 people gathered at the base of the Sandia Mountains, not to protest APD, but to remember the man officers shot and killed March 16.

A candlelight vigil was held Wednesday night for homeless camper James Boyd.

The crowd hiked up to the spot where police shot and killed the man who suffered with mental illness.

Officials say Boyd’s mental illness led him to commit a string of violent crimes over the years that frequently landed him in jail and mental hospitals.
