ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico search for what’s called the worst video game in history is now one step closer to happening.
Atari’s “ET” game based on the successful 80’s movie did so poorly it cost the company a fortune.
Millions of unsold copies are rumored to have been dumped in an Alamogordo landfill.
A filmmaker wants to dig for them.
The city has given its okay and now the state has given them approval.
The New Mexico Environmental Department says organizers must notify them five days before any work begins.
No word yet when that could happen.
