Pedestrian killed by car in Doña Ana County

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A pedestrian was killed by a vehicle driven by an on-duty Doña Ana County sheriff’s deputy, and now an investigation is underway to determine who was at fault.

A sheriff’s office spokeswoman says the deputy was responding to a call in Mesquite when the pedestrian was struck Tuesday evening.

At this point, officials aren’t saying if the deputy had the right-of-way.

They say it will be an extensive investigation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
