ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – His video brought Sunday’s protest to countless people for eight straight hours.
Thomas Dixon spent the day with hundreds of protesters as they flooded the streets of Albuquerque.
Dixon’s video shows the protest starting peacefully with a message against what demonstrators call police brutality.
But then there were signs that the protest was heading in another direction.
At one point, Dixon even warned one guy walking up Central with a rifle.
“I’d be careful with having that gun man, you’re gonna get shot,” Dixon said. “It’s an open-carry state, though.”
Although he saw some protesters get out of hand and saw police had to use tear gas, he says most of the protest stayed peaceful, and on-message.
Dixon says overall he was impressed with how APD handled the demonstration.
