John’s Wednesday Afternoon Forecast

A storm is moving in today and with it comes more wind. Wind Advisories as well as Red Flag Warnings are in effect across eastern and southern New Mexico.

We’ll also see some rain and snow across the northern third of the state. Expect snow at the higher elevations and rain at the lower elevations starting this evening. Through the overnight hours, temperatures will be dropping. This will allow for the possibility of snow in valley locations. Even Albuquerque could see a spot snow shower tonight. However, don’t expect any accumulation. It will still be too warm right at the surface, so any snow that does reach the ground will melt on impact.

Showers will continue across the north through early Thursday afternoon. Afternoon highs Thursday will be about 10° – 15° below average for this time of year as well. The storm lifts out Thursday evening, making way for a much quieter Friday with more sunshine, warmer temps, and less wind.

Over the weekend another storm will roll across southern New Mexico. This one will bring more scattered rain showers for much more of the state. After this storm clears, a ridge of high pressure will set up over the state making for a quiet start to next week. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
