Carlsbad Caverns see visitation drop in March

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – Apparently Carlsbad Caverns is not a favorite spring break stop this year.

According to the Carlsbad Current-Argus the number of visitors last month was extremely low compared to years past.

The good news is January and February were really good months for the caverns.

Officials are hoping it’s not another year like 2011 when attendance hit rock bottom with only 365,000 people visiting the entire year.

The national park is used to seeing more than 400,000 visitors every year.
