ABQ mayor talks APD protest, investigation on Fox

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Mayor Berry appeared on national TV Tuesday talking about Sunday’s Albuquerque Police Department protest and the controversial shooting of a homeless man in the foothills.

Albuquerque has been making national news for days.

First because of the controversial shooting of James Boyd in the foothills in which many people say APD officers crossed the line.

That’s what prompted Sunday’s protests.

Berry told Fox News that the officers involved in the March 16 shooting are still on administrative leave.

He cited a spike in APD police shootings in 2010, but said the numbers have dropped to at or below the national average for the last three years.
