Coach Craig Neal to get 2-year extension

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Days after his name was mentioned as a target for a head coaching job elsewhere, Lobos basketball coach Craig Neal has been offered an extension.

Neal will get two years added to his five year deal, taking him through the 2019-2020 season.

The financial terms are to remain the same as Neal’s first contract which pays him a base salary of $750,000.

UNM Vice President of Athletics Paul Krebs said he is excited with the direction Neal of the Lobos program under Neal’s leadership.

“We are glad that he wants to be here at the University of New Mexico,” said Krebs.

Neal reacting to his extension said, “We have a tremendous program here at New Mexico, with an unbelievable facility and great fans.
