Students honor Cesar Chavez with Day of Service

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Cesar Chavez remains an American hero for his work fighting for civil rights for Hispanics and Latino farmers.

In honor of annual Cesar Chavez day, some kids are learning the importance of agriculture.

Children celebrated the fifth annual day of service learning Friday to honor the legacy of Cesar Chavez.

It’s an annual tradition to teach hundreds of students everything from farming to sustainability.

It was also a day to remember the man behind the legacy.

Events continue through the weekend at the Hispanic Cultural Center.
