Rail Runner to ramp up security

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Rail Runner passengers may notice something new the next time they board the commuter train.

Starting next Monday, security officers will join passengers to check tickets and patrol platforms and parking lots.

Last year, KRQE News 13 reported on cars being broken into at the Rail Runner stations at the Los Ranchos/Journal Center in the North Valley.

The lot has 24-hour surveillance, but doesn’t catch all crimes. Security officers will wear lapel cameras.
