Officers in Tuesday shooting may be ID’d soon

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – APD is expected to give more details Thursday about Tuesday night’s shooting involving APD officers.

Police were called out to a housing complex near Coors and Central for reports of a man threatening two kids.

When officers arrived, they encountered Alfred Redwine.

Video shows Redwine holding what appears to be a gun to his head.

APD says Redwine then fired that gun and officers fired back, killing him.

APD Chief Gorden Eden says the officer who fired has been with the department for five years and has never been involved in a shooting before.

Eden may to release his name and the names of the other officers involved Thursday once they’ve all been interviewed. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
