ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A year after Steve Alford bolted for UCLA and Craig Neal donned the red jacket to take over at UNM there are reports that another school is trying to pluck Neal away from the Lobos.
CBS Sports is reporting that the University of South Florida is going hard after Neal.
Neal is just starting the second year of a five year deal that pays him $750,000 a season and the Tampa Florida School would have to pony up a $1 million buyout to UNM to pry Neal away.
After the Lobos lost to Stanford Friday, UNM Athletic Director Paul Krebs told the Albuquerque Journal Neal would not be getting a raise despite his success as a rookie head coach.
KRQE contacted the Athletic Department about this information, they said they do not comment on rumors.
