Competency hearing set for accused Roswell shooter

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – We could soon learn whether the 12-year-old boy accused of shooting his classmates in Roswell earlier this year will go to trial

A judge is supposed to have a competency hearing for Mason Cambell on Friday.

Campbell is accused of firing a shotgun into the bleachers in the Berrendo Middle School gym in January.

Nathaniel Tavarez and Kendal Sanders were hit and are still recovering.

Campbell is charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Right now he’s locked up at the Chaves County Juvenile Jail in Albuquerque.
