FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – Authorities say the driver who died earlier this month in Farmington after a police shooting was exposing himself to people at traffic lights and driving erratically.

John Marszalek, 26, died on March 12th after leading deputies and officers on a series of chases and ramming a police car.

Witnesses say after the crash Marszalek stabbed himself in the throat, shortly afterword a U.S. Marshal’s deputy shot him.

Police haven’t said yet if he died from the stab wound or the gunshot.

Officers say they tased Marszalek at one point but the taser failed to stop him. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
