2013 chile harvest yields less than previous year

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It’s a New Mexico favorite. And whether you like them red or green, a new report shows last year’s chile harvest was less than the previous year.

Statistics released Thursday by state and federal agriculture agencies show that the chile crop last year was down by 16 percent from the year prior.

Officials say fewer acres were grown, yielding lower production for most varieties.
