AG Gary King will investigate 2 most recent ABQ police shootings

AG Gary King still in race for governor

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Attorney General Gary King says his agency has opened an investigation into the latest officer-involved shootings in Albuquerque.

The announcement was made Tuesday. King wants his office to look into the fatal shooting of James Boyd and the fatal shooting that occurred overnight in Albuquerque’s Westside.

“I know it is a bit unusual, but in this case it seems warranted to let the public know that the Attorney General’s Office is as concerned as they are about the situation and I intend to do everything within my jurisdiction to see that a just result is reached in these cases,” King said. “We believe it is very important for an objective unbiased external assessment to be made in both shootings. We are also willing to collaborate with the federal authorities in any review they conduct.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
