SF woman sentenced for DWI, wrong-way driving


SANTA FE (KRQE) – A Santa Fe drunk driver who drove the wrong-way on Interstate 25 last year and seriously injured several people has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Leela Perez,27, was caught driving south in the northbound lanes of I-25 near Santa Fe in March 2013.

She crashed into two cars, one carrying a pregnant woman who was forced to have an emergency c-section.

Perez’s blood alcohol was .20 which is more than twice the legal limit.

Perez pleaded guilty to great bodily injury by reckless driving and a misdemeanor DWI charge.

She had faced more than nine years in prison.
