Injured service dog faces surgeries, long recovery

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Tango the service dog seriously hurt in a suspected DWI crash last week was finally stable enough to undergo surgery Monday to repair his broken pelvis and both broken rear legs.

Tango is had to undergo another surgery Tuesday and it’s expected to be a lengthy one.
Vets say his recovery expected to be very hard.

Tango was thrown 50 feet from an SUV last Thursday when his owner Leonard Day crashed near the Route 66 Casino.

Day is facing felony animal cruelty charges and could face a DWI charge once blood test results come in.

Investigators say the still aren’t back and could take several weeks.
