Roswell medical marijuana distributor awaits state’s approval

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – It could soon be easier for people in southern New Mexico who rely on medical marijuana to get it.

A distributor could open its doors in Roswell as early as Friday.

Compassionate Distributors of Ruidoso has been providing medical marijuana to people in the area for years and they are now working to open a Roswell location.

The Department of Health will inspect it Tuesday.

If the state approves the facility, it would become the first ever medical marijuana distributor in the city.

Owners of the business say they already have more than 200 patients in Roswell alone and every month those people have to travel more than hour to Ruidoso to pick up their medicine.

They say this new store is vital for their patients health.

“Cutting out the travel time really will help them,” said Compassionate Distributors Co-Owner Mandy Denson. “Plus it will help them use that extra money to purchase more medicine and not fuel.”

The location of the Roswell store is being kept a secret until a decision has been made by the state. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
