CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – WIPP officials near Carlsbad plan on letting the Artesia City Council know exactly what they plan to do when a team goes underground for the first time since the radiation leak.
They’ll meet Tuesday and will also have a town meeting that same day for the public.
A WIPP re-entry team has already been training to go underground to try and find out what caused a radiation leak in the nuclear waste mine.
It’ll be the first time since the leak that workers will descend into the mine.
The re-entry team hopes to begin its exploration of WIPP’s tunnels next week.
