Suspects arrested in burglary standoff

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – One of two men who Albuquerque police say stole several valuable items apparently has a history of burglar charges.

According to a criminal complaint, Jonathan Apodaca, 26, and James Tennent, 32, crawled in through a window of a home near Constitution and Morris Street.

A neighbor called police, and when officers spotted the men trying to leave the home, the burglars ran back inside.

That’s when the SWAT team was called in and both men were eventually arrested.

The complaint states Tennent claimed he thought the home was vacant.

But Saturday in court, a judge was told it’s not the first time Tennent’s faced charges like this.

Police recovered the stolen items, including the homeowner’s wedding ring and coin collection. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
