Convicted killer gets new trial

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A convicted killer will get a new trial, after the court ruled his rights were violated.

Bruce Schwartz was convicted of second degree murder in the death of 67-year-old Martha Mceachin, whom he had been living with.

Her body was found in may 2008 wrapped in an inflatable mattress behind a grocery store on Louisiana and Trumbull in southeast Albuquerque.

Schwartz appealed his conviction saying that his rights were violated because four prosecution witnesses testified using an internet video connection.

The court ruled his right to confront the witnesses was denied and ordered a new trial.
