UNM campus fire may have been arson

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Arson investigators are looking at a fire on UNM campus.

It started around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house that has been vacant for a few years.

Fire officials say no one was inside and crews went in after they say a small amount of smoke coming from the house.

“Firefighters were really good about putting the fire out quickly and containing it to one room and preventing any further damage,” said Melissa Romero of AFD.

UNM students are on spring break this week. Investigators are on scene figuring out a cause. They haven’t yet said if it’s suspicious.
