Unions declare ‘war’ with governor

SANTA FE (KRQE) – There’s another political battle brewing in New Mexico. This time it’s two unions versus Gov. Susana Martinez.

The Albuquerque Journal reports the two are arguing about union dues automatically deducted from workers’ paychecks.

The governor wants to stop that from happening. She claims the money is turned around and used for political attacks.

However, the unions – The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and Communication Workers of America – are calling this a “declaration of war,” and say the governor just wants to decrease the unions’ power.
