School board votes to change library name

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque School Board voted unanimously to remove convicted felon Manny Aragon’s name from a school library Wednesday.

The disgraced politician spent four and a half years in federal prison for pocketing more than $600,000 during the construction of Albuquerque’s Metro Courthouse

The library at Lowell Elementary school in southeast Albuquerque was named after Aragon while he was a senator.

For more than a year neighbors have been calling for it to be removed.

The entire school board agreed to take it down. No word on if the library will get a new name.
