Health alert issued to due ABQ smoke

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A health alert has been issued by the Environmental Health Department’s Air Quality Division from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday due to smoke in the air.

The city of Albuquerque sent a news release Wednesday stating the smoke is causing elevated levels of particulate matter in the air which is causing a haze throughout the city.

City officials say the haze will dissipate in the early afternoon hours, but people with heart and lung disease, adults older than 65, young children and pregnant women should avoid going outside for long periods of time.

The city is also advising residents to keep their windows and doors shut.
