SANTA FE (KRQE) – Santa Fe’s mayor has declared Saturday, March 29, George R.R. Martin Day.

Martin, who lives in Santa Fe, is the writer of the book series “Game of Thrones” which is now a hit HBO show.

That day, season four will premiere in Santa Fe at the Jean Cocteau Theater which Martin owns.

That’s a week before the HBO premiere.

One of the show’s actors will be on hand, and the show’s iron throne will be on display in Santa Fe as well.

There will be two public screenings of the premiere in Spanish and in English.

Tickets are first-come, first-served, so the theater expects lines to form the night before. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
