Movie about NM horse premieres soon

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The movie “50 to One”, about the long shot horse from New Mexico that went on to win the Kentucky derby, hits the big screen this week.

Cast and filmmakers started a cross-country tour Monday to promote the movie that tells the story of Mine That Bird, the horse owned by a Roswell group that as an underdog pulled off one of the greatest upsets in derby history.

They’re working to get to Kentucky, with stops between Las Cruces and Roswell. They’ll stop in Albuquerque for Wednesday’s world premiere at the Kimo Theater.

The movie stars Skeet Urich and Christian Kane.
