Feds to extend Lockheed Martin contract

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Lockheed Martin has won a contract extension to continue to run Sandia National Labs.

Officials say the current contract is set to expire at the end of the month, but it has been extended for at least two more years.

There is an option for a third year while the National Nuclear Security Administration gets ready for an open competition for the contract.

Lockheed Martin has run Sandia for 20 years.

Officials tell Albuquerque Business First that the contract extension offers stability for the labs and its employees.
