Judge grants SF lawsuit class action status

SANTA FE (KRQE) – A District Judge says a lawsuit filed by seven employees of a Santa Fe hospital over claims they worked through unpaid breaks is now a class action suit.

A spokesperson for Christus Saint Vincent told the New Mexican the hospital’s current lunch policy was lawful.

But an attorney for the plaintiffs said the hospital’s understaffing made it so employees couldn’t take their breaks but still had the time withheld from their paychecks.

With the Judge’s decision, more than 1200 previous and current employees are eligible to join the lawsuit against the hospital.
