NM teacher receives Milken award

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An outstanding New Mexico teacher is being awarded for his dedication in a big way.

Andrew Cook, a Spanish and Italian languages teacher at Manzano High School was surprised with the Milken Educator Award.

The award comes with $25,000 to be used, as cook chooses.

He is one of just 40 educators around the country receiving the award.

He didn’t apply but was sought out by the Milken Foundation because of his excellent work.

Cook is widely regarded as a master of technology not only educating students but teachers too.

Cook, a former student has been teaching at APS for 12 years. He doesn’t yet know what he’ll do with the money but says it will be used wisely.
