LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (KRQE) – Another hot ticket will be a special tour, with two people who witnessed the first man-made nuclear explosion at New Mexico’s Trinity Site.

The atomic bomb was detonated there in July of 1945.

It was built in Los Alamos under the Manhattan Project.

A few weeks later, the US dropped A-bombs on Japan, ending World War II.

White Sands Missile range has opened the Trinity site in April and in October for the last 51 years.

According to the Los Alamos Daily Post this year Jack Abey the photographer who took the only color picture of the blast and Manhattan Project veteran Roger Rasmussen will be taking a special bus tour to the site.
