ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque hot spot for anglers could soon have a new name in honor of a New Mexico fishing icon.
City Councilors Brad Winter and Isaac Benton are sponsoring a resolution to rename the Tingley Beach catch and release pond after Bob Gerding.
For decades Gerding encouraged New Mexicans to the great outdoors using his Outdoor Adventures Hunting and Fishing show and call-in programs.
He lost his battle with cancer in December at the age of 75.
The resolution will be introduced at next Monday’s city council meeting.
