Teen arrested in Rio Rancho robbery

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A teen who held-up a Rio Rancho fast food restaurant with a hatchet is now behind bars.

Johnathan Sheffield, 18, is facing federal robbery and tampering with evidence charges.

Police say he held-up the Twisters restaurant on Southern in October 2013.

Officers say he pushed one of the workers to the ground and demanded money. Sheffield then took off with $500.

According to the Rio Rancho Observer, Sheffield left his DNA on doorknobs.

When police confronted him they say he confessed to the robbery.
