Legislators seeking reelection face deadline

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The New Mexico legislature could look a lot different this time next year with many state legislators deciding not to seek reelection.

Ten incumbent house members have already announced their retirement.

Tuesday is the last day to file to run for the state’s 70 house seats.

The election will determine which political party will hold the majority in the state house. This year democrats held just a four-seat majority.

State senators won’t be up for election until 2016.
