Hightened security follows kidnapping attempt

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Security was noticeably heightened Tuesday outside an Albuquerque elementary school where a young boy reported an attempted kidnapping Monday.

APS police paid close attention as kids arrived for classes at Inez Elementary School in the northeast heights.

A fourth-grader reported Monday that a stranger had approached him on Pennsylvania near Constitution, telling the boy his mom was in the hospital and that he needed to come with him.

The boy ran off screaming and told the principal.

School officials sent a letter home to parents alerting them to the situation.

The boy described the suspect as a younger man with dark hair and light skin.
