Barricaded suspect in custody

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – For much of the day Monday, officers were on the scene of 1045 Lura Place Southwest after a suspect reportedly barricaded himself in his home around 12:20 p.m.

According to APD, the suspect was 30-year-old Jesus Elias Ornelas, who has multiple outstanding warrants, including two felony warrants. He also may be wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

Officer Tasia Martinez of APD said three juveniles ages 5 to 17 exited the home upon officers’ request Monday afternoon, but the man wanted by police continued to refuse commands for a few more hours.

By Monday night, the man was arrested and is now in custody. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
