John’s Monday Afternoon Forecast

The weather this week will be very springlike with fluctuating temperatures, and bouts of high winds.

The warm up that started yesterday will continue for today. Highs across the state will be well above average for this time of year. A storm will pass to our north on Tuesday. Spot snow will be possible over the Northern Mountains, extending east toward the Raton Pass area.

However, the bigger story will be the winds. Strong westerly winds during the day will give way to even stronger northerly winds after a front drops in behind the storm Tuesday night. A High Wind Watch is up for the far eastern counties of New Mexico for gusts up to 60 mph and could be expanded later today.

Behind the front, temperatures drop 15° – 30° for Wednesday. Afternoon highs rebound Thursday. Another front halts our warm up on Friday, but it doesn’t significantly cool down most areas. The warm up resumes Saturday, before another potential cool down for Sunday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
