Police investigate NM inmate death

DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – One inmate is dead after being stabbed by a fellow inmate at Southern New Mexico Correction Facility.

According to New Mexico Corrections Department, Javier Molina was attacked and murdered Friday. Officials believe the attack was conducted by fellow gang members in the correction facility.

New Mexico State Police are investigating the incident. NMSP said the assault involved several suspect inmates and that a subsequent search of the cell pods recovered a metal shank that could possibly be the weapon used to stab Molina.
